Downtown Shooting

Yes, that's right. Beautiful, tourist ridden downtown San Antonio also attracts some not so pleasant activity.

Early Wednesday morning around 3am two men were shot. The scene took place on Alamo and Market street in front of the Hilton Palacio Del Rio hotel. Guests from the hotel heard the shots and called 911.

When the police arrived they found two men lying on the sidewalk.
Villalobos, 22 was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot to the face.
Vasquez, was conscious and responsive but was suffering from 2 gunshot to the head and 2 shots to the chest. He was rushed to the hospital and is in intensive care.
Witnesses said they saw a man wearing black run from the scene.

So nobody seems to knows the cause of the shooting but police have increased their presence in the downtown area and will continue to do so through the summer months.

Husband and I already witnessed an arrest outside our apartment last night. SAPD is obviously doing what they can to make downtown a safe place for residents and tourists a like.

Definitely makes me feel a little leery about being out and about. Well, let's just say that at that time of the night there is no reason to be on the streets unless your looking for trouble because that's the only people out at those hours.

We've already discovered that late hours like 2am to 4am seem to be the busiest in and around our apartments. Makes you think that some kind of shady business is going on if it has to be done at those hours.
