Hospital Time

Well, what do you know? It's me coming to you from my very own private little hospital room. I for a million years wouldn't have expected to be here if you would have asked me yesterday morning and yet here I am going on my second night. 

A quick run down on the events. 

Yesterday late morning, early afternoon I began having some pretty strong back pains. I was planning to join husband on his weekly trip to Bastrop in the evening and as the time got closer I realized that there was no way that I was going to be able to go. The pain continued to escalate regardless of what I tried to do to relieve it. I thought by what I was experiencing that it was possible kidney infection. Husband decided to come home instead of going to Bastrop after talking to me over the phone and hearing how distressed I was. We decided to call our midwife and ask what she would suggest. They seemed to think that it was pretty serious and told me that I needed to come in to the hospital right away. So that's how it was that at 5:00 last night I was being checked into the hospital for the very first time in my entire 24 years of life. They hooked me up to IV, put the baby on monitors, and did and ultrasound on my kidneys and bladder. The best thing they did was give me some pain medication. I felt so relieved after that. They have since then put me onto antibiotics and are working to make sure that they are covering all the bases. Apparently kidney infections are a common cause for preterm labor and so they are taking it very seriously.

What you may not know if you have never stayed in a hospital before:

They make you wear those little funny grippy socks in sizes way to big. 

Those hospital gowns that gape in the back are for REAL!!! 

IV's can really hurt.
